Our Scouts

Missions Overview

Missions Overview

NTMC is proud to be the host institution for the local scouting program.  We have three groups - Scout Troop 508, Scout Troop 805, and Cub Pack 508.  The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Scout law states that a Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Through their oath of helping other people at all times, our Scouts are growing in to their goal to be physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. Sew 'N' So's

Missions Overview

ETHRA Senior lunches

The NTMC Sew 'N' So's meet every Tuesday at 10 am at the church.  In addition to some wonderful fellowship and bonding, these energetic sewers use their talents to create various projects for ministries in the area.  Examples of their projects include blankets and covers for the local retirement home, quilts to sell at the fundraising arts & crafts show in the fall, and children's blankets for social services to use when rescuing children in the area.  The Sew 'N' So's are always open to new ideas and welcome anyone interested in sewing, knitting, crocheting, other needlework, or just plain fellowship.

Inner City Slickers

NTMC has supported the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky almost since its inception in 1921.  Red Bird was created by missionaries to provide education, health services, and housing aid to the people of Appalachian Kentucky.  Over the more than 100 years of its work, Red Bird has cared for and served the people who are in great need both physically and spiritually. Programs at the Red Bird Mission include a work camp where participants learn a real skill they can carry into meaningful employment, a community store where participants can sell hand made products to earn both a little money and a lot of self esteem, a baby pantry, food assistance, home repair, a senior activity program, and emergency support during catastrophes. Inner City Slickers

NTMC has enjoyed working with the Inner City Slickers program through providing toys and finances for the ICS Christmas Party held each year in Claiborne County.  The ICS is a national program with the goal of helping young people develop strength, perseverance and hard work. ICS strives to  build young people's self-esteem, self-confidence, character and breaks down the social prejudices that are so prevalent in our culture today.  Through personal interaction,   ICS volunteers help children develop ethical and moral standards to carry through their lives. With a motto of " Making a Difference in the lives of Children, One Child at a Time" the ICS seeks to reach teens through the Cowboy Code of Ethics."  Learn more at  https://innercityslickers.com/.

Cuba Sister Church

R.E.C. Hunger Ministry

R.E.C. Hunger Ministry

NTMC regularly supports international relief efforts to our sister church in Guatao, Cuba where our church helps supply food, medicine, and general toiletries to Pastor Rafael and Noemi and the members of the church and community. The Methodist Church of Guatao has become a mission of hope and survival in a country torn by political strife.  The Cuban people have been suffering under the socialist-communist regime since the 1960s, and conditions include poor health care, lack of resources, and extreme poverty.  The church in Guatao, through the support of NTMC, provides food, supplies, and spiritual leadership to the community. To find out more, visit the church's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/iglesia.metodistaguatao or the CUBA ministry website at  https://www.cubaministry.org/

Ukraine Sister Church

R.E.C. Hunger Ministry

Ukraine Sister Church

NTMC supports the pastor and community of our sister church in Lviv, Ukraine. Pastor Prokip leads the St. Johns Methodist Church to build up their faith and spiritual strength in a time of war.  Ukraine has been under attack from Russia for several years, and the people of Ukraine live with the constant fear of bombs causing destruction and death.  In St Johns Church, members are supportive of each other, their extended families and friends, and the pastor and his family.  We support the church in Lviv not only through financial means but through our prayers for their safety and an end to the war in Ukraine. Pastor Prokip's Facebook page can be found at  https://www.facebook.com/wotson.prokip
